Privacy Policy

This privacy policy was last modified on May 14, 2018.

Reshelving Alexandria will not sell or rent personally-identifiable information to any third party. We will not use or share your information with anyone except as described in this Privacy Policy.

Information We Collect

You provide us with information about yourself, such as your name and email address, when you sign up for a Reshelving Alexandria membership. If you correspond with us by email, we may retain the content of your email messages, your email address and our responses. In addition, you may choose to add information about yourself to your profile that you can then share with other members. You can modify, delete, and set your privacy settings for this information any time in the My Account section of the site after you have signed in using your personal password.

Cookies: When you visit reshelvingalexandria.com, we may send one or more cookies—a small text file containing a string of alphanumeric characters—to your computer that uniquely identifies your browser and lets us log you in faster and enhance your navigation through the site. A cookie does not collect personal information about you. Reshelving Alexandria uses both session cookies and persistent cookies. A persistent cookie remains on your hard drive after you close your browser. Persistent cookies may be used by your browser on subsequent visits to the site. Persistent cookies can be removed by following your web browser’s directions. A session cookie is temporary and disappears after you close your browser. You can reset your web browser to refuse all cookies or to indicate when a cookie is being sent.

Log File Information: Log file information is automatically reported by your browser each time you access a web page. When you register with or view our site, our servers automatically record certain information that your web browser sends whenever you visit any website. These server logs may include information such as your web request, Internet Protocol ("IP") address, browser type, referring / exit pages and URLs, number of clicks, domain names, landing pages, pages viewed, and other such information.

Web beacons: Reshelving Alexandria uses a third party email provider, MailChimp, to send emails to newsletter subscribers and members. MailChimp uses single pixel gifs, also called web beacons, to provide us with reports that show who opened the emails and who clicked the links. This allows us to measure the performance of our email campaigns and to improve our features for specific segments of Members.

How We Use Your Information

We use the personal information you submit to operate, maintain, and provide to you the features and functionality of Reshelving Alexandria.

Your Profile: Any personal information that you voluntarily disclose in your profile may be viewed by other members on reshelvingalexandria.com next to reviews or comments that you post, when you share a list with someone else, or when another member views your profile.

Your Reviews: Any personal information or content that you voluntarily disclose when you post a review for a book that you’ve read will be visible to other Reshelving Alexandria members. We use the information that you provide about whether you would recommend a book that you’ve read to show an aggregated count of the number of members who recommend a particular book.

Reshelving Alexandria reserves the right, but has no obligation, to monitor the reviews or comments you post on the site. We have the right to remove any such information or material for any reason or no reason, including without limitation, if in our sole opinion, such information or material violates, or may violate, any applicable law or our Terms of Use Agreement or to protect or defend our rights or property or those of any third party. We also reserve the right to remove information upon the request of any third party.

Emails from Reshelving Alexandria: By providing us with your email address you consent to our using the email address to send you membership related notices. We may also use your email address to send you other messages, such as our monthly newsletter, changes to features of the membership, or special offers. You can opt out of our newsletter and special offer emails using the links in the footer of any email you receive from us. You may not opt out of membership related emails if you are a current member.

Payment Information: We use a third party payment processor to process payments made to Reshelving Alexandria. In connection with the processing of such payments, we do not retain any personally identifiable information or any financial information such as credit card numbers. Rather, all such information is provided directly to our third party processor, Stripe, whose use of your personal information is governed by their privacy policy, which may be viewed at https://stripe.com/us/privacy.

How We Protect Your Information

Reshelving Alexandria uses commercially reasonable physical, managerial, and technical safeguards to preserve the integrity and security of your personal information. We cannot, however, ensure or warrant the security of any information you provide to us and you do so at your own risk. Once we receive your information we make commercially reasonable efforts to ensure the security of our systems. However, please note that this is not a guarantee that such information may not be accessed, disclosed, altered, or destroyed by breach of any of our physical, technical, or managerial safeguards.

To protect your privacy and security, we take reasonable steps (such as requesting a unique password) to verify your identity before granting you access to your account. You are responsible for maintaining the secrecy of your unique password and account information, and for controlling access to your email communications from Reshelving Alexandria, at all times.

Children's Privacy

Protecting the privacy of young children is especially important. For that reason, we do not knowingly collect or solicit personal information from anyone under the age of 13 or knowingly allow such persons to register. If you are under 13, please do not send any information about yourself to us, including your name, address, telephone number, or email address. No one under age 13 is allowed to provide any personal information to or on Reshelving Alexandria. In the event that we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under age 13 without verification of parental consent, we will delete that information as quickly as possible. If you believe that we might have any information from or about a child under 13, please contact us.
